Privacy Policy

ElevTrader ("ElevTrader," "we," "us") runs elevtrader.com, a marketplace, forum and job board for elevator and escalator parts and the people who work on them. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us
- Account details: username, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash.
- Verification details. ElevTrader is a verified-members marketplace. We ask for each item below only at the step where it's needed, and say why:
- To join: full legal name, mobile phone, company, what describes you (technician, mechanic, contractor, owner, buyer, supplier, manufacturer), state or country, and confirmation that you are 18 or older. Why: so members know they are dealing with real people in the trade, and to keep minors off the site.
- To post or reply: confirmation that the mobile number is yours, by a text code or by sharing your number through Telegram. Why: to stop fake and duplicate accounts. One verified number per account.
- To contact sellers: a business street address, checked against the U.S. Census Bureau's public address file (international addresses are reviewed by our staff). Why: to confirm buyers are real, for shipping and to prevent fraud.
- To list parts: the business's legal name, entity type, state of registration, EIN (federal tax ID), business phone and website, reviewed by our staff against public state registries. Why: to confirm sellers are real businesses and protect buyers. Never enter a Social Security number. We do not collect Social Security numbers.
- Optional: a trade license or certification type, number and issuer, reviewed against public license lookups, so we can show a trade badge on your profile.
- Sign in with Google: if you choose it, Google shares your name, email address, whether that email is verified, and a Google account ID. We do not receive your Google password.
- What you post: listings, photos, forum threads and replies, job postings and applications, questions and part requests.
- Messages to Ask Joey: the questions, part numbers and photos you send to our AI parts assistant so it can answer you.
Information collected automatically
- IP address, browser type and sign-in activity, used for security, fraud prevention and limiting abuse.
- Your browser's local storage keeps you signed in and remembers your filters. We use privacy-focused analytics from our host, Cloudflare.
How we use information
- To run ElevTrader: create and secure accounts, show listings and posts, process part requests and orders, and answer questions.
- To verify members and keep the marketplace safe.
- To contact you about your account, listings, requests and orders, and about ElevTrader products, parts and services. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time.
- To improve the site and our parts catalog.
- To comply with the law.
When information is shared
- With other members: nothing that identifies you. Every member appears only under the username they pick, which can't include their name, company, email or phone and can't copy or imitate another member's. Your legal name, company, email, phone, address, EIN and license are never shown to other members, and sellers and buyers deal through ElevTrader, not directly. Only ElevTrader staff can see member details.
- With service providers who run the site for us under their own security obligations: Cloudflare (hosting, storage, AI processing), Resend (email delivery), Google (sign-in), Telegram and Quo (phone verification codes) and the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder (address checks; only the address is sent).
- When required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our members and the public.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of ElevTrader's assets.
Information we receive through Sign in with Google is used only to sign you in and run your ElevTrader account. We do not sell it or use it for advertising, and our use follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How long we keep information
We keep account information while your account is open and for a reasonable time afterward for records, security and legal obligations. Security logs are deleted on a rolling basis.
Your choices and deleting your data
- You can update your account details or ask us to delete your account and personal information by contacting us below.
- You can stop using Sign in with Google at any time from your Google Account settings.
Security
We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords, rate limiting and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Age
ElevTrader is for adults in the trade. It is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
